The Full Monty is one of the most beloved and acclaimed British films in history. It was inevitable this would end up on the stage. In 2018/2019 this story of northern survival is back on the road for a huge UK tour.
THE FULL MONTY tells the story of six out-of-work, struggling steelworkers from Sheffield with nothing to lose. This ain’t the Chippendales though, it’s a beautifully witty and wordy crafted play.
Not for the faint of heart – it’s bawdy, crude and ‘in your face’ in places.

The word play is clever and it’s beautifully crafted for lets face it, a mostly female fan base. I was outnumbered 2500 to 1!

The show is beautifully staged and lit, but lets face it, the script and delivery is king.
The Full Monty 2018/2019 tour is perfectly cast with a stellar line-up of pros. Each unique and individual – their personality is infectious.
The show is driven by Gaz, played by the utterly charming Gary Lucy. Gary has the rare combination of talent matched with looks – a killer combo for this part. The women naturally went wild from the second he took to the stage.
He tells the story of a fathers struggle to keep access to his son. Fraser Kelly is a star in the making. Their on stage chemistry is 100% believable.
This is probably the most gritty and authentic re-telling of this story I’ve ever seen on stage. You’ll LOL and shed a tear – a perfect combination for a night out.
Based on his smash hit film and adapted for the stage by Oscar-winning writer Simon Beaufoy, this show has equal measure of heart and belly laughs.
With true northern grit, this ain’t Mamma Mia – it has real meaning and substance.
The entire cast are quite brilliant.
ANDREW DUNN (Dinnerladies) is perfect as the resistant Gerald, LOUIS EMERICK (Brookside, Coronation Street) gets the first huge laugh as Horse, JOE GILL (Emmerdale) has the audience on side from the start, KAI OWEN (Torchwood) is the surprise hit with the girls and JAMES REDMOND (Casualty, Hollyoaks) is blessed is oh so many ways!

Listen, this show isn’t aimed at me. I was surrounded by women who were captivated and rewarded the cast with some of the biggest laughs I’ve heard in a theatre in a very long time.
To see a huge gorgeous theatre like The Birmingham Hippodrome sold out is always a thrill.
Guys, you will enjoy it too…..just not as much as women who, judging by the comments on the way out, cannot wait to come again for the boys from FULL MONTY!
This is not a musical but the play is driven by some brilliant music. More or less the soundtrack of our lives.
With songs by Donna Summer, Hot Chocolate and Tom Jones you can’t fail to have a party.
The three killer moments are of course You Sexy Thing, You Can Leave Your Hat On & Hot Stuff. OK, there’s an even bigger moment at the end of Act 1 but I won’t spoil it….
