Hit-Boy Biography

Hit-Boy (Birth name: Chauncey Alexander Hollis Jr.) was born on 21 May 1987 in Fontana, California, United States. Hit-Boy is the son of rapper Big-Hit and nephew of Rodney Benford from Troop. 

Hit-boy initially started his career through Myspace in 2003, when he first received a message from Polow Da Don to sign him professionally. As a record producer, Hit-Boy has produced some of the big names in the music industry including Jay-Z, Kanye West, Beyonce, Big Sean, 50 Cent, Eminem, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, and more. 

In 2011, Hit-boy signed to the GOOD Music label of Kanye West and produced “Niggas in Paris.” He then went on to produce other singles such as “1 Train” and “Goldie” for rapper ASAP Rocky. Hit-boy started his career as a rapper in 2012 when he released his debut song called “Jay-Z Interview” produced by Bink! Later that year, Hit-boy was featured on CyHi’s mixtape Ivy League Club in the song “Entourage.” He released a self-produced song called “Old School Caddy” featuring Kid Cudi. In 2013, Hit-boy announced that he has decided to leave Kanye West’s label GOOD Music but is still on good terms with the entire team. 

In 2016, Hit-boy started working with rapper Dom Keddy in a joint mixtape called Half-A-Mil EP as an alias for the two. Half-A-Mil EP was released on 11 December 2016 consisting of five songs and “100 Rounds” was named as the lead single. A few months later the duo released another mixtape, a sequel called Half-A-Mil 2 EP, on 24th February 2017. On 8 August 2017, the duo released Half-A-Mil 3 EP.  

After three joint mixtapes, Hit-boy and Dom Kennedy decided to release their first commercial album on 29 November 2017 courtesy of Half-A-Mil with 14 tracks along with several featuring artists such as Ty Dolla Sign, Larry June, B.Carr, and more. 

Their second studio album was released on 31 July 2020 called “Also Known As” with 11 tracks featuring Nas, 24hrs, and 03 Greedo.

Hit-Boy then teamed up with Nas to produce the King’s Disease series from 2020 To 2022. In March 2023, Hit-boy went on to release his album called SURF OR DROWN which had multiple artist features such as Curren$y, Nas, The Alchemist, and more. Hit-boy then went on to release a follow-up album of SURF OR DROWN, a sequel on Father’s Day titled SURF OR DROWN Vol. 2.

Hit-Boy is making headlines after he and rapper Cam’ron took to their Instagram to blast the policeman for slamming a black older woman. Recently, a video of a Los Angeles cop went viral, where the cop is seen slamming an older black lady to the ground. The attack was captured on video, where a cop is recorded arresting the lady’s son for apparently stealing accusations which she believes is illegal. 

This has created quite a blast on social media platforms where netizens are calling out the policeman. Even rappers Hit-boy and Cam’ron have taken to Instagram to share their outrage towards the incident. Hit-boy expressed his opinion by saying, if anyone did this to his mother, then he would have scorched earth on them. Following Hit-boy and Cam’ron rap figure Mysonne and activist Mike Jones also expressed their disappointment towards the incident and stated he needs to be put in Jail. Currently, the L. A Police Department is yet to share their opinion on the incident.
