David Corenswet has been announced as the actor who will play the Man of Steel in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman Legacy, as reported by Deadline on Tuesday, June 27. The decision was finalised by DC co-chairs Peter Safran and Gunn, who also serves as the director, after conducting screen tests during the weekend of June 17.

The Hollywood Report listed Nicholas Hoult, Tom Britney, Emma Mackey, and Phoebe Pynewor as part of the other content.

David Corenswet, born on July 8, 1993, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has steadily gained momentum on his journey to stardom. He discovered his passion for acting early and honed his craft through formal training, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the prestigious Juilliard School. Corenswet’s dedication and talent have earned him critical acclaim and a growing fan base.

Breakthrough Roles

Corenswet had appeared in several TV shows and movies before his breakthrough role on House of Cards. He later starred in Ryan Murphy’s The Politician and Hollywood, the former about a high school senior’s pursuit of the presidency and the latter set in post-World War II Los Angeles. Corenswet has also appeared in We Own This City, Look Both Ways, and Pearl and is set to star in several upcoming projects, including The Answers, The Greatest Hits, Lady in the Lake, and Twisters. His role in Superman: Legacy will mark his first major studio film appearance.

Additionally, he confessed to being a self-professed “Star Wars” nerd, with his love for the franchise beginning during his childhood when he would rent VHS tapes from Blockbuster and watch the films back-to-back. Corenswet’s connection to the characters and the immersive world of “Star Wars” influenced his imaginative play, particularly as a young child.
