Toby Keith and Friends have announced the top earning items from their 2023 OK Kids Korral auction, which took place on Monday, June 26. The proceeds from the auction will benefit children who are fighting cancer and their families.
The auction raised $120,000 with the signed guitar, which will significantly impact the cancer charity. The program raised $1.8 million to provide free housing for families with children fighting cancer.
Several items were sold during the auction, including a dinner with Keith for $70,000 and a fishing trip with the singer for $80,000. A guitar signed by Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks, and other famous musicians fetched $44,000.
Last December 2022, an auction was held to benefit the Raven Drum Foundation’s 12 Drummers Drumming event. The auction featured a guitar used in Swift’s Midnight recording sessions. The foundation, founded by Def Leppard’s Rick Allen, raises funds for veterans and first responders dealing with PTSD. The guitar was sold for a final bid of $12,500, as reported on the 12 Drummers’ website.
This year, Swift gave away an acoustic guitar through an auction to help MusiCares Charity Relief, an organisation that assists musicians facing financial and medical difficulties. The guitar had designs from her Evermore era and was expected to sell for up to $10,000, as reported by iHeartRadio.
The auction featured various items, including collectables from famous sports personalities like NFL quarterback Joe Burrow, NBA star Steph Curry, and golf legend Tiger Woods.
There were also contributions from brands like Ashley Furniture, Crew’s Cottage Carlton Landing, The Joinery, Tim Kenney, Travis McIntyre, Red Fork Distillery, Kennel & Crate, Ryan Cunningham, South OKC Ace Hardware, and LOREC Ranch Home Furnishings.
The Toby Keith Foundation was founded in 2006 to raise money and offer Oklahoma pediatric cancer patients housing. In 2014, they built a comfortable facility called the OK Kids Korral, where families can stay while their children receive treatment.
Keith shared with The Oklahoman that OK Kids Korral and his foundation party will be celebrating their 10th and 20th anniversaries next year. He expressed gratitude for their support, and they plan to celebrate in a big way.
