The ultimate Strictly boy band bring the 60’s party into the 21st century, in an explosion of song, dance, acrobatics and fun in RIP IT UP at the Garrick this Spring.
Starring Aston Merrygold (JLS), Jay McGuiness (The Wanted), Harry Judd (McFly), and Louis Smith (Olympian), who also sing, drum and perform endless routines and gymnastics – they collectively are the epitome of 2019 showmen.
Basically this is ‘the greatest hits of the 60’s set to Strictly style dance. This show is a feel good production doing exactly what the fans want.
If you like Strictly and / or the boys – I’m sure you’ll have a lovely time.

Rip It Up is staged as a television show which re-imagines the 1960s. It’s like Hairspray with fit lads.
This is more of a variety show than West End spectacular. It’s all about the vibe between the cast and audience. This ain’t Les Mis – nor should it be!
Lead by cheesy TV presenter Cavin Cornwall, we’re taken through the sounds of the era – from Motown and Woodstock to Bubblegum Britain and The Beatles – accompanied by energetic dance routines by a talented ensemble. The music is infinitely uplifting.
With high camp values, a fast paced show and fun moves from the entire cast, they collectively deliver these killer hits in Strictly style.
It has to be said that Aston steals the show physically. He’s leagues above every other dancer on stage. His energy is inspiring. What a mega talent.
Collectively though ‘The Fab Four’ wow the crowds, accompanied by ten dancers and a band who work their asses off throughout.
Jill Marie Cooper offers lead vocals. It’s a thankless task with such endless, huge, anthemic hits.
I could do without the endless videos and scripted nonsense, but, lets face it, this show is not aimed at me. I’m sure the fans will love it but if you’re expecting Broadway polish, this probably isn’t the show for you.
